This book is divided into ten chapters focused on the individuals and companies involved with the acquisition process, as well as the identification of marks on material imported. Chapters that specifically cover long arms, revolvers, ammunition, edged weapons, accoutrements, artillery and other miscellaneous material are included as well.
Two previously untapped primary sources contributed greatly in the research for this publication. Information discovered in the McRae Papers and little known Prize Court records of blockade runner adjudication in the US Court system in the National Archives provided tremendous insight into what has been an unknown area of study.
